alpha - the beginning

This past January, I attended a Hope Chapel West Oahu women's conference, Arise 2013. There were 1,300 women in attendance and many more who hoped to get their hands on tickets to attend. It was an amazing time where Pastor Lisa Kai focused on how the word she kept receiving for the conference was "MORE". This is exactly what I've been getting as each week passed ever since.

The what: Every week has been a new adventure and a new focus. Little did I know, every week that flew on by, God was equipping me for MORE. I went from not knowing where to start to building on this vision of opening my own business. It has slowly grown from making Christian clothing for young children, newborn to 5T. There are not many baby and toddler clothing with cute images on onesies and rompers to toddler t-shirts. Most that I've been finding have been simply words, so I want my business to include clothing with a simple image along with some scripture.
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” ~Matthew 19:14 NIV
Children can be God's vessels to share the gospel just as much as adults can be!

There are other items that are being tossed around, like busting out my brand new sewing machine (that's an entirely different story) from it's currently sealed original box and make hooded towels for young toddlers. The hooded towels at the stores are for bigger kids and drag on the ground when new walkers to 4 foot tall kids are using it.

Then, I was given the idea of making homemade soap, with a "gold leaf" imprinted on it somehow as well. I've never made homemade soap in my life, so this one will be on the back-burner for a bit.

Also, I've considered sewing embellishments on onesies, like skirts and wings onto it for girls or making boys rompers into a collared shirt with a different colored "pants".

The name: Last year, I attended a prayer class and someone gave me a word of a red book with gold leaf. As I recalled this information a few weeks ago, God downloaded in me that my business is to be called "gold leaf". Yesterday, I looked up Hawaii businesses with the name "gold leaf" and one financial business came up. And today, Blogger told me that goldleaf.blogspot.com was taken. So, I decided "gold leaf hawaii" would do just fine.

The store: Recently, I also met with a friend who used to run a business at the kiosks in the malls. She gave me a run-down of the going rates of the various malls and how it operates. The more we talked, the more the business grew into a store-front, but I'm not quite sure I want to commit to that just yet. I'm good with starting off small.

The purpose: A few days ago, I met with another friend and she pulled out of me that trafficking has been heavy on my heart. Now, I'm considering my business profits going to support the rehabilitation of individuals rescued from trafficking right here in Hawaii nei, in our own backyard.

The how: And just yesterday, I met with a new friend, who runs her own business of designing clothing as well as printing in her manufacturing plant in California. As this business grows, I might need to depend on these various individuals and more for moral support and encouragement. It's totally overwhelming how God is simply opening all these doors, but I receive it gladly!

It is no coincidence that I'm meeting with these various people and the convictions I've been receiving. I know full well that God's hand is in it all and it's only a matter of time before everything gets put together just right. It's all to serve God's calling in me. Although it is quite scary, I know it's about taking me out of my comfort zone and placing a fire in my heart to get this moving.

After all, it is for His divine glory that this all happen and come to fruition!

The who: This is a business that my husband and I will create and run together. My goal is to homeschool our son, so this would work perfectly! Also, I'm more than sure part time employees would come from our trusty Christian youth here in Hawaii.

Thank you: Thank you, Lord, for entrusting me with this vision. I pray that what comes of it is in total obedience. This is also a thank you for each of you who has been a part of this vision of mine, from my minichurch to fellow servants. You are very special to us and we appreciate your continued love, support and encouragement.
